Powerstroke Tuning in Edmonton

Specializing in the 6.7L Powerstroke

Not all 6.7 Powerstrokes are the same truck under the hood. Ford has redesigned the engine and its electronics 4 times since 2011. What a tune can safely do, and what device it takes to do it, depends on which generation you’ve got. Find your years below before you start comparing packages.

We specialize in the 3rd gen (2020-2026). About 80% of our Powerstroke clients have the 3rd gen here in Edmonton.

YearsChangesWhat this means for tuning
2011-2014Dual-sided, sequential Garrett GT32 SST turbocharger featuring ceramic ball bearings. While it spooled fast, it was prone to overspeeding, bearing failure, and coolant fitting leaks.Different turbo behaviour than later single turbo trucks. Tuning has to account for the dual setup.
2015-2019Switched to a larger single scroll turbo that was more reliable. Most common generation on the road. The most straightforward platform to tune. Widest support, most established tuning files.
2020-2022Ford redesigned the engine electronics; tighter factory security.Harder to unlock than the 2013-2019 trucks. Fewer tuning options exist and not every device works.
2023-2026Standard Output and High Output variants split for the first time.Which variant you have (SO vs HO) changes what’s available. Please confirm before assuming a package applies to your truck.

What actually changes between generations

  • Turbo response: dual-sided (2011-2014) vs. single (2013+) turbos behave differently under boost, so the tune has to be built for the hardware that’s actually there.
  • ECM security: the newer the truck, the harder it generally is to unlock for tuning. This is why not every shop or device supports 2020+ trucks the same way they support 2013-2019.
  • Available devices: the tuning hardware/software that works on your truck depends on your generation, and sometimes the specific model year within it.
  • Realistic gains: a 2013-2019 Powerstroke and a 2020+ won’t necessarily see the same power numbers from the same style of tune.

Types of tune

Single tune (recommended): a single tune optimizes your diesel truck to one specific power level and performance profile to your liking. Good for reliability in the long run, because your truck gets used to one setting.

Switch on the fly tune: this tune changes the power profile using a dial. You can switch from 0-200 horsepower in 50 hp intervals, depending on what you need.

Packages

  • Single tune (economy/reliability, tow, power) $1000-1500 depending on the year
  • Switch on the fly $1000-2000

FAQ

Can you tune a 2020 or newer 6.7 Powerstroke?

Yes. 80% of our Powerstroke clients are 2020 or newer.

Do I need to delete my truck before tuning it?

No, you don’t need to delete your truck before tuning, but you do need to tune your truck after getting a delete done.

What’s the difference between Standard Output and High Output on 2023+ trucks?

From the factory you see a 25 hp difference and 150 ft-lbs of torque. What we like is that the HO has a liquid-cooled turbo housing with integrated coolant ports, compared to just engine oil cooling on the SO.

Can I switch power levels myself after the tune is done?

Yes, you can switch power levels if you get a switch on the fly, or have it re-tuned if you have a single tune.
