Cummins Tuning in Edmonton

Specializing in the 6.7L Cummins

The 6.7 Cummins has gone through real changes since it launched in 2007.5: security systems, emissions systems, fuel pump, the bottom end of the engine. What a tune can safely do to your truck depends on which model year it has. Find the years below before you compare packages.

We specialize in the 4th gen and the 5th gen 6.7 Cummins (2010-2024).

Find your generation

YearsChangesWhat this means for tuning
2007.5-2009First 6.7 Cummins generation, VGT turbo, EGR/DPF only.Roughest factory calibration and heavier soot load than later years. Tuning has to work around a less refined baseline.
2010-2012Refined factory calibration, still pre-DEF.Popular with tuning for the simpler emissions setup than the DEF-equipped trucks.
2013-2018DEF added, which actually reduced soot load on the EGR/DPF and improved reliability. Reliable CP3 injection pump.Widely considered the sweet spot generation. Smoothest factory calibration and the most tuning support.
2019-2020New High Output model (stronger bottom end), but switched to the CP4 injection pump. There was a factory recall later to change to the CP3.Strong bottom end gives tuning headroom, but the CP4 unreliability is worth noting before pushing power.
2021+Reverted to the CP3 pump at the factory, kept the stronger H.O. platform.Best of both: strong bottom end and a proven fuel pump. Generally the most tuning friendly of the later trucks.

EZ Lynk no swap unlock

Worth noting that the 2022-2024 Cummins has a stronger security system. EZ Lynk recently came out with an unlock directly to your truck’s computer, without swapping your ECM or mailing it out to get unlocked.

What actually changes between generations

  • Security system: 2007.5-2012 has simpler ECM software that is easier to flash tunes on and does not need unlocking of security gateways. 2013+ uses more advanced and restrictive ECM platforms, especially the 2022-2024, and needs specific calibration files and/or unlocks to safely rewrite the computer without bricking it.
  • Fuel pump: CP3 (2007.5-2018, 2021+) is the known reliable pump. CP4 (2019-2020 only) is smaller and lighter, with roller lifters that are prone to failing. It’s worth confirming whether a 2019-2020 truck has already had the factory CP3 fitted before tuning.
  • Bottom end strength: the 2019+ H.O. platform (forged rods, updated pistons) has higher peak ratings than the earlier blocks. Relevant if you’re chasing bigger numbers.
  • Available devices: tuning hardware/software isn’t the same across all five generations and model years.

Types of tune

Single tune (recommended): locked to one power level and profile that we customize to your needs (economy/reliability, tow or power). Since the truck’s always running the same calibration, your engine and transmission get used to it over time.

Switch on the fly: you can adjust your power level on a dial instead of being stuck with one setting. The power levels are customized for you as well. You can dial between 0-200 hp in levels.

Packages

  • Single tune (economy/reliability, tow, power) $1000-1500
  • Switch on the fly $1000-2000

FAQ

How do I know which generation my truck is?

You can find out with the model year (refer to the table) or the 8th letter of your VIN: 3rd gen is “A”, 4th and 5th gen is “L”.

I have a 2019 or 2020. Do I need the CP4 recall done before tuning?

We would recommend getting the recall done, because it is 100% free! And you wouldn’t have to worry about the CP4 failing in your Cummins.

Do I need to tune my truck after deleting it?

Yes, you need to tune the truck after deleting it, because the DPF, EGR and DEF system isn’t there anymore and it will throw engine codes in your truck. Plus we can customize it if you want your truck to run more efficiently or with more power.

Is a pre-DEF truck (2007.5-2012) harder to tune than a newer one?

No, the older Cummins are easier to tune, because they have less security and there’s more support for them, since they’ve been out for longer.

Which years can gain the most power?

With factory specs, the newer Cummins can get more power because of the stronger internals.

Can I switch power levels myself after the tune is done?

Yes, if you get the switch on the fly you can change power levels with a dial. For a single tune, we offer lifetime support as well, so we can retune your truck if you get mods done later.
